In the app
The quickest way
- Open Mianka and go to your Profile tab.
- Open the account menu, then Settings›Delete account
- Confirm. Your account is closed immediately and you are signed out.
By email
If you no longer have the app
- Email support@mianka.pl with the subject "Delete my account".
- Send it from the email address the account was registered with. That is how we know the request is yours.
- We confirm by reply once it is done.
You cannot sign in again from the moment you confirm, so finish anything you care about first. If your registered address no longer works, write from any address and say so. We will find another way to check it is you before deleting anything.
What happens to your data
Deleted
- Your account and sign-in details
- Your profile: name, username, city, bio, reading languages and profile photo
- Your shelf and your wishlist, including every cover photo you uploaded
- Your posts, comments and likes
- Your swap history, the messages in each swap chat and any drop-off photos
- Ratings you gave and ratings you received
- Delivery details you shared for a swap, such as an email address or a locker
- Notification settings and the record of your device used to send notifications
What we keep
- A few activity records, such as "a swap completed". Once your account is gone they carry nothing that links back to you.
- Encrypted database backups, for a short period, until they age out. We do not read them and we do not restore an account from them.
- Emails you or someone else sent us. If you want those removed too, say so in your request.
- Anything another reader already holds, such as an email address or locker you shared to complete a swap.
A swap record belongs to two people. Deleting your account also removes each swap and its chat from the other reader's side. It is not only your own copy that goes.
How long it takes
In the app, your account is closed the moment you confirm. Your profile, listings, messages and photos are removed at the same time and the account record itself is erased within about an hour.
By email, we act on the request within 7 days and usually much sooner. The deletion itself is the same once it starts.
Delete only some of your data
You do not have to close your account to remove something. Most of what you add you can take back yourself. It is gone straight away.
Open the book from your profile and delete it. The cover photo goes with it.
Open your wishlist and remove it.
Open your post and delete it. Its photo goes with it.
Open the comment and delete it.
Edit profile lets you change or clear your photo, name, city, bio and reading languages.
Email support@mianka.pl from your registered address and say what you want removed. We will do it or tell you why we cannot, within 7 days.
Three things cannot be removed on their own: messages inside a swap chat, because the conversation belongs to the other reader too; ratings, because they are another reader's account of a swap that happened; and the record of a completed swap. Those go when the account goes.
Your other rights
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct something or object to how we use it. Write to support@mianka.pl. If you are not happy with how we handle it you can complain to the Polish data protection authority (UODO).
